Enjoy island living at its best when you book your holiday at 12onParkesLane - our guest rooms on Leisure Island in Knysna, in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route National Park.
The Knysna Lagoon - one of the most important features of the National Park - laps the shore just a few hundred metres from our front door.
Without ever getting into your car, here you can enjoy lazing on the beach, you can pad around in the shallow water at low tide and swim at high tide, you can stroll around the neighbourhood and have a drink or a meal at one of the local coffee shops (there’s very little traffic on Leisure Isle); you can spend some quality time birdwatching in Steenbok Nature Reserve (also on the Island); or you can just chill with a book on a bench under a tree...
And when the tide goes out, you can walk across the sand to the famous Knysna Heads - which, as the old folks used to say, truly is, ‘The world’s most spectacular portal to the sea.’
Situated as it is in the unfenced Garden Route National Park, Knysna is the ideal destination for nature lovers, sportspeople, and anyone who enjoys tranquil forests, soaring mountains, and long, almost deserted beaches - all of which are yours to explore when you stay at 12onParkesLane.
Surfing, angling, hiking, birding, swimming, golf courses (Simola, Pezula, Knysna) - all side by side with great restaurants, awesome shopping, and those all-important luxury spas: that’s Knysna.
LOCATION: Knysna is situated about 70 km from the closest domestic airport (in the city of George), 500 km by road from Cape Town, and 280 km from Port Elizabeth.
Our two well-appointed and comfortable en-suite rooms - ‘Mist’ and ‘Cloud’ - offer peaceful, comfortable island accommodation.
Both rooms have super-fast wifi, DSTV (full bouquet), tea and coffee stations, bar fridges, queen-size beds, and bathrooms with showers.
Unfortunately we don’t offer meals or catering, but you’ll find four superb eateries within walking distance - on the Island, just around the corner!
With your hosts resident on site, we’re here to offer suggestions about how to make the best of your time in Knysna… although ‘do as little as possible’ might just be the advice you need...

We bought 12onParkesLane as a holiday home….as a family we reside in Pretoria and come on holiday for 3-4 months in the year. Because of the innate beauty of the Island and what Knysna has to offer, we decided to rent 2 rooms at an affordable price to share the rare beauty of the Island and the plethora of what Knysna has to offer to guests. When we are not here, the house is rented out to guests as well.
